We chat with Physical costume designer Ernesto Martinez about his inspirations behind the outfits for the Apple TV series, his back-and-forth with Rose Byrne, and the evolution of the costumes through season 3:

Sheila Rubin was dealing with bulimia and sex addiction and all these incredibly deep topics and dark things back in the '80s, or '70s even. I found that to be quite challenging. Then the story arcs that have taken place. The writers are just incredible and, to me, writing that about women at that time, it's true that they were having those issues that we never talked about it, and we just accepted it. I found that to be really interesting. That really drew me to it.
Screen Rant: I am sure it is like picking your favorite kid, but is there one thing that you put together that is your absolute favorite? I did the same for Sheila with Jane Fonda. She was a great inspiration. A lot of the great models of the time, like Lauren Hutton was a great inspiration for Sheila Ruben's wardrobe. A lot of designers, Giorgio Armani was a big inspiration Hunter Moray. I just stole from everywhere. I stole from movies, I stole from television shows, I stole from videos. I went wherever I could. Anything I could latch on to that was inspiring and different, I would do and I would try.
