Liverpool were on the receiving end of a wrong VAR decision against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday
A decision has yet to be made over whether Darren England will involved in another Liverpool match this season, the ECHO understands.
England was in the VAR hub, alongside assistant VAR Dan Cook, that ruled out the legitimate goal that would've handed Liverpool the lead, minutes after being reduced to 10 men after Curtis Jones was sent off. The miscommunication between the on-field officials and those at Stockley Park meant that the VAR officials incorrectly called a completed check on Diaz's effort after the assistant referee had initially raised his flag - as opposed to overruling the initial decision in awarding the goal.
"The goal by Luis Diaz was disallowed for offside by the on-field team of match officials. This was a clear and obvious factual error and should have resulted in the goal being awarded through VAR intervention, however, the VAR failed to intervene. "I saw the outcome, I saw goal we scored and it didn’t count so I wasn’t now waiting for the audio and sitting there hoping I’d find out how it could happen or whatever.
