Ministers paired the changes with the launch of a new voluntary universal support programme to match disabled people with jobs they may wish to do. confirmed the WCA will be scrapped, leaving just one benefit assessment for the existing Personal Independence Payment – which is for those with a long-term physical or mental health condition or disability.The changes will require new laws to be passed in Parliament and the reforms are not expected to begin until 2026 at the earliest. A rollout for new claims aimed to be complete within three years from then.
