John Sipos, 76, was sentenced to serve seven years to life in prison on Friday, according to multiple reports.
A Pennsylvania man was found guilty late last week and sentenced in the 1969 cold case killing of a San Diego woman.after he was found guilty of murdering Mary Scott, 23, in 1969. Scott was a dancer at the Star & Garter Club back in 1969, which was reportedly just a couple blocks from where she lived. When she did not show up for work, a co-worker who went to her apartment found the furniture in disarray, and the locks on the door broken.
Sipos was living in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania back on Oct. 24, 2020 when he was arrested. According to reports, one of Scott’s sisters, Rosalie Sanz, had pushed authorities to use DNA and genealogy reports to try to help break the case open. And, when they did, it reportedly led them to Sipos, who had been retired for more than 20 years after working as a hospital administrator and in security.
According to the report, Sipos claimed he did not remember anything about the murder, and waived extradition from Lehigh County back to California. Scott reportedly had two daughters, one of which died in a car accident several years ago.
