Peaceful riverside Lancashire walk that includes a pitstop at family-friendly pub that also welcomes dogs
Starting from a village centre in South Ribble and heading into serene surroundings, this week’s suggested walk offers a quiet escape from the noise of everyday life.
It takes in stretches along the River Ribble as well as public footpaths which take you away from houses and into quieter areas. The majority of the walk features reasonable footpaths and there are no significant inclines. If the sunny weather doesn’t continue, some of the footpaths can be liable to suffer from waterlogging so appropriate footwear is needed after heavy period of rain. The walk starts from Hutton Village Hall car park, covers an approximate distance of seven miles and will take most people three to four hours. It as adapted from the Hutton & Longton Coastal walk originally created by South Ribble Borough Council.
The Dolphin Inn boasts open fires in the winter and an extensive beer garden for outside drinking and dining in the summer. The pub consists of a separate adult only bar, hosting an array of local cask ales and a restaurant which serves food Monday to Saturday 12noon-2pm, 5pm – 8pm and Sunday 12noon-7pm.
