Ahead of a Saturday deadline to file pre-trial motions, Attorney General Ken Paxton's defense team is pushing for the Senate court of impeachment to dismiss several articles of impeachment.
On Friday, defense attorneys filed a motion to dismiss Article V of the 20 articles of impeachment brought against Paxton, which tailors a broader motion from earlier this week to dismiss 19 of the 20
articles, including Article V. They also moved to block details of a $25,000 donation to Paxton's campaign made by Nate Paul, a close associate who's been indicted on federal charges, from being used as evidence.
