Paul Warne has left his position as Rotherham United manager to take over from Liam Rosenior at Derby County.
Warne, 49, had managed at Rotherham since November 2016. He previously played for the club in two separate spells at the New York Stadium.
The former midfielder leaves the Yorkshire side who are eighth in the Championship. Derby are currently participating in the division below, League One, and are seventh in the table. Rotherham gained promotion to the Championship twice under Warne – the first being during the 2017-18 season and the second in 2021-22.He was previously first-team coach under Phillip Cocu and assistant manager to Rooney.
It is understood that Rosenior was in talks with Derby over landing the managerial job on a permanent basis before being told the club would be appointing a new manager.
