The release of “En Plein Air,” produced by Water From Your Eyes’ Nate Amos, marks a triumphant return for the group after a brief hiatus, reviving their glistering melodies and grotesque yet contemplative lyricism.
“En Plein Air” feels liberating, as if the band’s vulnerability has truly broken free through the once the echoing melody repeats across the track’s beginning. Drawing influence from Donna Summer and The Bee Gees, a feeling of disco-inspired grooviness emerges from the guitar’s chords, all while still presenting a sense of intensity and confrontation.
