A woman who relies on a hearing aid has been left without the device for months as appointments to get a replacement were cancelled because ofAnnie Gibbs, 38, from Greenwich, south-east London, lost her hearing aid in December and has been unable to get a replacement since due to appointments being cancelled by industrial action.she feels unsafe in public without the device as she can only hear out of one ear and avoids walking at night as a result.
“I can only can hear in my left ear properly, so when I’m in group settings, unless someone is to the left of me I find it hard to engage with others in discussion as my mind is working extra hard to keep up so I can follow.Before she can receive a new hearing aid, Ms Gibbs has to attend an appointment so the device can be fitted and the audio can be tested in line with her level of hearing.
People take part in a rally in Trafalgar Square in London, in support of striking NHS junior doctors, as the British Medical Association holds a 96-hour walkout
