Sections of the road have been repaired but are still in a poor condition
Drivers have to swerve to avoid potholes on a 'patchwork' Nottinghamshire road that has been voted the worst for potholes in the county. Westdale Lane, which runs from Mapperley to Gedling, was voted Nottinghamshire's most pothole-ridden road by Nottinghamshire Live readers in a recent poll.
Retiree David Wood, 74, who has lived in Westdale Lane for 40 years, was appalled by the condition of the road, which he claimed had recently damaged his wife's car. "I've just put in a claim for £305 because my wife's car's front spring broke from a pothole - it is really dreadful."We've already signed a petition to resurface the road, which is like a patchwork. The quality of this road is not even piecemeal, it is pot luck.
Mrs Willott added: "Sometimes you have to go on the other side of the road to avoid them all. It has been worse since we had the bad frost recently." Wes Howes, 44, who works for EMAS and lives in Mapperley, added: "It is quite bad really - the road condition on parts of this road isn't good. It probably needs to be resurfaced as it is really patchy and some of the potholes can be fairly deep."
