The mayor had used the city funds to pay for the dancers and their tuxedos, something Kamau claimed cost less than $1,000 and was approved by his team“I don’t think it was improper,” Kamau told the local outlet. ”All of my expenses are reviewed by multiple people.” He accused city leaders of being far too lenient with a South Fulton officer accused of mishandling confiscated funds and having a relationship with a subordinate.
Councilwoman Helen Willis, one of the officials Kamau called on the GBI to probe, said in a statement at the time: “Kamau’s latest unprovoked attack on her is consistent with his demeanor of voided leadership. The City of South Fulton deserves so much more than a person who will create and molest matters in an attempt to create issues where there simply is none.”
McKesey and Police Chief Keith Meadows were also accused of retaliating against those who spoke out about their alleged corruption. Event organizer Torrey Tomlinson told WSB-TV that he had never seen such a thing in his history of putting the egg hunt together.
