Shows are 8 p.m. Friday through Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sundays at the theater, 4318 Allen-Genoa Road, Pasadena. Tickets are $12-$18.“I played cello in the orchestra — that was my main elective — but I did a lot of theater after school,” he said.

He put acting on the shelf while earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science at Texas State University. “He joined our PLT family and ran tech for a couple of shows and learned about lighting a set,” said director Julie Owen of Clear Lake, who isn’t related to the mother and son in the cast. “Brett read the part of Bear for me at out season kickoff party in April, and I asked him at that time to put my auditions for this show on his calendar.”“Everybody is blown away by her voice and how natural and expressive she is,” said her son.

Rounding out the cast are Linda Rodriguez as Holly, Bruce Blifford as Bear’s grandfather, Alec Wimmer as Holly’s husband and Renea Runnels as Holly’s boss, a producer of Christmas movies who doesn’t have an ounce of Christmas spirit.Light and sound design are by Vanessa Pearson, who runs tech with Tammy Pearson.
