A 15-month-old baby tragically died of sepsis after a hospital sent her home with a prescription of Calpol., 2018, after Whiston Hospital, in Merseyside, ‘missed opportunities’, an inquest ruled the next year.
They were sent home with ibuprofen and Calpol but Evie’s condition deteriorated quickly before she died. ‘There’s very much a culture of it not being escalated and during the inquest there was a lot of conversation about missed opportunities and since then, we’ve been able to see how important it is for as many people as possible to know the signs.
