The fundraiser to get Calum Rae into a trial for a miracle cancer drug in New York has rocketed past £72,000 just three weeks after opening.
Ayrshire parents have told their four-year-old son that a fundraiser for cancer treatment is a "celebration of how brave he is."
The fundraiser kicked off just three weeks ago to raise a quarter-of-a-million to get Calum on the trial and hospital treatment at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York. “We had no idea where to begin to try and raise that amount of money, people from all over Ayrshire have just stepped in to help us.“He is going to become increasingly unwell, 'how will we manage to fundraise, when we’re trying to take care of Calum and look after him?' It was completely overwhelming."Victoria said: “We’re just completely blown away and completely taken aback. As soon as we told everyone what was going on the support started flooding in so quickly.
This week popular takeaway Scran dedicated a special to the brave youngster called the ‘Calum Box’ with all profits from the tasty offering going towards the fundraiser. And kind neighbours in Troon’s Garry Place have rallied round the family, with neighbours offering to look after their cat
