PALO ALTO – Police were investigating a strong-arm robbery involving a woman in her 50s Tuesday afternoon at the Town & Country Village shopping center.
The woman was placing shopping bags in her vehicle about 3:45 p.m. at the center, located at 855 El Camino Real, when she felt a tugging on the cross-body purse she was wearing, police said in a news release Wednesday. She turned around to face the suspect, who demanded her wallet; she handed it over and the person fled on foot southbound through the parking lot, police said.
The victim was not hurt. She reported the incident to authorities approximately an hour later from her home. The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic man in his mid-20s, standing 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds. The suspect was cleanshaven and last seen wearing a black beanie, black sweatshirt, and black pants.
