EXCLUSIVE: Adam Chowdhary's barrister said the coroner came to the conclusion without asking him questions about the alleged lie
The coroner who ruled Joshua Molnar unlawfully killed Yousef Makki 'formed the firm view' that their friend Adam Chowdhary had lied in a 999 call to police BEFORE reaching formal conclusions, according to legal submission made to last month's landmark inquest.
READ MORE: The privileged MGS pupil who imported the knife that killed his good friend Yousef Makki can now be named Greater Manchester Police and the Crown Prosecution Service are now considering potential further steps. Under questioning by the coroner, Chowdhary, now aged 21 and a graduate, denied he was positively asserting the attackers had left the scene, prompting the coroner to interject: "No, no no. You said you saw a car. You are saying I saw it.
He continued: "Based upon the learned coroner’s questioning of it appears that an opinion has been formed that lied to police about not seeing the stabbing."Chowdhary was cleared of perverting the course of justice in the 2019 trial although he also served time for possession of another knife. The lawyer argued it was 'significant' that his client wasn't asked firstly whether what he said was correct or secondly if he accepted it wasn't correct 'why he had said it'.
