A pair of drivers in Massachusetts died at the scene of a crash Saturday morning after one of them drove southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. Interstate 95.

Massachusetts State Police were on their way to respond to calls reporting the wrong-way driver when they received word of the crash, which happened near the I-95 exits onto Massachusetts State Route 225 near Lexington, Massachusetts. The driver of a 2019 Toyota Prius was driving southbound in the northbound lanes when they hit a 2001 Toyota RAV4 head-on near the exit. Responding firefighters got both drivers out of their cars but were pronounced dead at the scene. State police did not provide identifying information for either driver.Northbound traffic on I-95 was stopped at the exit for hours after the crash, with the road being reopened at 6:43 a.m.
