Again a familiar face, Wil Myers leading off for first time this season as Padres look to split series with Nationals
Well, aside from Jurickson Profar’s quiet August , Myers faced the struggling Corbin, a former Diamondback, more than any other Padre and with great success. Myers is hitting .344/.475/.563 with one homer in 40 plate appearances.
Bell has two homers in 12 plate appearances against Corbin and will bat fifth a day after homering for the first time as a Padre out of the six-hole. Soto went 2-for-3 with a walk and his second homer as a Padre on Saturday to extend his on-base streak to 25 games. He is hitting .284/.478/.482 during that run, but Saturday’s home run was his first extra-base hit since Aug. 12.
