The Padres' Juan Soto is 1-for-23 over his last seven games
, his first two-walk game since Sept. 4. He was, however, 0-for-3 at the plate, is 1-for-23 over his last seven games and slugging just .336 since the trade deadline, but Padres manager Bob Melvin has no plans to drop him in the lineup.
Melvin continued: “This is a guy we need and that we know and feel very confident that at some point in time he’s going to come through and we don’t want to mess with that and he’s never probably dropped down in his career in the lineup. …Indeed, Soto has started only two games in the seven-hole and only six in the sixth spot, all as a rookie in 2018.
