STANFORD – Mark Madsen has been a part of plenty of Stanford blowouts at Maples Pavilion. Thursday night, for the first time, he was on the losing end of one.
Freshman guard Kanaan Carlyle went 4 for 5 from behind the arc as seven Cardinal players hit 3s to help Stanford snap a six-game losing streak. Spencer Jones was 2 of 5 from distance to extend his school record to 308 career 3s. The Bears started the second half by committing turnovers on their first four possessions, and Stanford scored the first seven points to make it 48-32. Cal never got closer than 14 after that, and the Cardinal led by as much as 24 on a 3 by Brandon Angel with 5:35 remaining.
