The former NFL wideout played for the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers.
This week was a big one for the Pa. High School Football Report because PennLive’s Brian Linder and Nebiy Esayas were joined by former NFL standout wide receiver, Torrey Smith, who is a two-time Super Bowl champion.Smith was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2011 after his stellar career with the University of Maryland. In just his second year in the league, he was a part of the Raven’s Super Bowl XLVII squad that beat the San Francisco 49ers in 2013.
And in 2018, he was on that Philadelphia Eagles roster that made history and won its first Super Bowl. In addition to being a champ, Smith is also a philanthropist, entrepreneur and broadcaster with NBC Sports Washington. He’s also on the coaching staff with St. Frances Academy’s football team, a dominant program located in Baltimore, Maryland, and he has a non-profit called LEVEL82 that strives to create a gathering space for those who live, work and play in the city of Baltimore, while developing strategically-curated programming to empower the community.
On this episode, Smith shares his life story and how the love for the game of football began for him when he was a child growing up in Virginia. Additionally, he shares how he was able to discover his identity after retiring from the NFL and find other areas in life aside from sports that he could exceed in.
