Lawmakers on Tuesday urged the investigators to finish sooner in light of the committee’s tight Aug. 19 deadline for making recommendations for change to the discipline process for judges.
The second probe, headed by RCT Ltd., a firm led by former U.S. Attorney Bob Troyer and former Denver Independent Monitor Nick Mitchell, is examining an allegation that top judicial officials tried to useBoth investigations have been delayed, Vasconcellos told lawmakers Tuesday, during the first meeting of a legislative committee created to reform judicial discipline.
RCT’s probe should be finished within 10 days, and no later than June 29, Vasconcellos said. Both groups will produce reports on their investigations that will be made public, though they may be redacted.
The committee can propose three reform bills for the 2023 legislative session, though some changes would require voters to approve a constitutional amendment.
