CLEVELAND, Ohio-- An enforcement operation led by federal prosecutors and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration led to the seizure of enough fentanyl to provide 4,766,788 deadly dosages in northern Ohio.
“Across the country and particularly here, in northern Ohio, we have witnessed, firsthand, the proliferation of fentanyl and the devastating effects it has had on our neighbors and loved ones,” said First Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle M. Baeppler in a recent statement. From May 23, through Sept. 8, the DEA and its law enforcement partners seized more than 65 kilograms of fentanyl powder and 87,000 fentanyl-laced pills, enough to provide 4,766,788 deadly dosages in Ohio, according to a press release.From coast to coast, drug raids have led to more than 10.2 million fentanyl pills and approximately 980 pounds of fentanyl powder being seized in the United States. That’s equivalent to more than 36 million lethal doses.
