Opinion: The struggle to find and afford child care is holding mothers back in their careers [Opinion]
survey of employed parents with children younger than 12 in the household, 52 percent say it has been difficult to handle child care responsibilities. Among those working from home, moms were about twice as likely as dads to say they have a lot of child care duties while working. Locally, San Diego County is in the process of developing a countywide child care blueprint with actionable recommendations involving streamlined permitting processes and the reallocation of government facilities, support for child care professionals through increased wages and scholarships, and programs to support affordability for providers to increase infant and toddler care.
