Although some treatments are available for neurodegenerative diseases, their incidence is growing as our aging population expands. These diseases include Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis , Huntington’s disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, frontotemporal diseases, and multiple system atrophy.
Many neurodegenerative disorders can be characterized by the abnormal formation and aggregation of proteins in the brain, such as tau, amyloid-beta, and alpha-synuclein. However, evidence increasingly reveals the contribution of the immune system in the onset and progression of these diseases. It is critical to establish appropriate in vitro cell models and associated cytokine profiling of cytokine storms if we are to increase our understanding of the role of immune cells and inflammatory response in the etiology of neurodegenerative diseases. In this webinar, our expert panel will discuss techniques to monitor cytokine storms, such as flow cytometry.
