One Piece set photos reveal the Nami actress Emily Rudd's first day on the show. On the heels of her dual roles in the streamer's Fear Street horror trilogy, Rudd will make her debut as Nami in Netflix's upcoming live-action adaptation of One Piece. In the anime series, Nami utilizes her cartographical skills as a navigator for the Straw Hat Pirates and dreams of one day drawing a map of the entire world.
The original One Piece anime series is based on Eiichiro Oda's manga series of the same name and follows the trials of Monkey D. Luffy, a young boy whose body obtains the physical properties of rubber after accidentally devouring a Devil Fruit. With his newly acquired powers and a crew of pirates, Luffy sets sail for the Grand Line in search of the titular treasure in order to become the next Pirate King.
Since One Piece just finished its first day of production, it will be a while until they wrap and the first official footage surfaces. The good news is that Netflix has other irons in the fire, like their live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. That series is further along in the production process and could air before the end of the year. .
