One man was killed and three other people were wounded early Saturday in shootings in Oakland’s Uptown district and another part of downtown.
OAKLAND — A man was killed and two other people were wounded in a drive-by shooting early Saturday in the Uptown district and another man was in grave condition after another shooting three hours earlier in the downtown area, authorities said.The fatal drive-by shooting happened about 3:16 a.m. in the 1900 block of Broadway.A 29-year-old Berkeley woman was shot multiple times and a 37-year-old Berkeley man was shot in the leg. They were in stable condition at a hospital.
The woman and other man were able to run to the 1700 block of Broadway from where they were taken to a hospital. Numerous other people were in the area but no one else was injured.There have been other homicides and shootings in the Uptown district over the years. On June 25, a 30-year-old man was fatally shot in the 1700 block of Broadway. In August of last year, an 18-year-old man was slain by gunfire in the 1900 block of Broadway, and in October of last year, a woman and two men were shot in the area of 17th Street and Telegraph Avenue. And in 2018 three men were fatally shot on different streets in the district.
