Voting-rights groups and minority Democrats on a state panel who drew them, are opposing an effort by Republican activists to get the maps adopted anyway through a federal lawsuit.
The Ohio House and Senate maps that Republicans on the Ohio Redistricting approved last month, and which the Ohio Supreme Court recently rejected as an illegal gerrymander, the second
time the court had done so in recent weeks. A Republican-backed lawsuit seeks to get a federal court to impose the maps anyway, and Democrats and voting-rights groups are opposing that effort.
