The design of an official emoji has been unveiled for the King's coronation next month.
The colourful cartoon motif depicts the 17th century jewelled solid gold St Edward's Crown with purple velvet cap, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.
The King will be crowned on Saturday 6 May at Westminster Abbey. The St Edward's Crown has historically been used at the moment of the coronation itself.The emoji for the coronation of King Charles III, based on the St Edward's Crown used during the ceremonyThe last crowning of a British monarch - Queen Elizabeth II - took place 70 years ago, before the invention of social media, mobile phones and even the internet.
The Palace said the image marking the coronation weekend will appear on Twitter from Easter Monday, 10 April. Official hashtags for social media have also been confirmed for the event. They include #Coronation, #CoronationConcert, #CoronationWeekend and #CoronationBigLunch.
