Officer shot in Englewood; suspect also wounded
A Chicago Police officer is shot during a traffic stop on the city's South Side Sunday afternoon, according to officials.
Around 2 p.m., the officer initiated a traffic stop in an unmarked vehicle on the 6900 block of South Sangamon in Englewood. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability responded to the incident. The officer was shot in the arm and torso and was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in serious, but stable condition, according to CPD Supt. David Brown.
An offender was also shot and was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition. It is unclear how many times the offender was struck, Brown said. A male suspect was taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition.
