An off-duty New York City Hospital Police Officer was shot in the leg Thursday morning in Hawthorne, investigators said.
The officer, who was not identified, suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound in the area of Brownstone Terrace at 6:20 a.m. and was taken toin Paterson for treatment, according to a statement from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office. His current condition was unknown. No other details were released by the office which said it was still investigating the shooting as of 3:30 p.m. Authorities did not say if the shooting was related to his position as a police officer. The New York City Hospital Police patrol the 18 NYC Health and Hospital operated facilities.
