is closing early next month, a CVS representative confirmed to SFGATE.

"Maintaining access to pharmacy services in the communities we serve is an important factor we consider when making store closure decisions," CVS spokesperson Amy Thibault said in a statement."Other factors include local market dynamics, population shifts, a community’s store density, and ensuring there are other geographic access points to meet the needs of the community, including COVID-19 testing and vaccinations.

The store at 2964 Broadway is scheduled to close Jan. 9. All prescriptions will be transferred to the nearest CVS pharmacy, which is located about a mile away at 175 41st St. in Oakland. All employees at the Broadway location have been offered"comparable roles within the company," according to Thibault.

This pharmacy closure closely follows another in the neighborhood: In early November, the Walgreens atAfter the Broadway location's closure in January, CVS will have just six remaining Oakland stores.
