Richard Collins bent over and offended a woman and her child who were behind him
A nudist has slammed Wetherspoon for trying to bar him out for 'accidentally exposing his bum' in front of a young customer when he bent over for a poppadom. Richard Collins says he usually goes around naked but had donned a sweatshirt, hoodie, and a short suede skirt with no underwear on when he went for dinner at his local Wetherspoon.
Wetherspoons said they ask 'all customers to dress appropriately and, more specifically, in a way which would not cause offence to employees or other customers'. "I was wearing a skirt which is not that short, so when I'm walking around normally I'm properly covered. It's only the fact I bent over - and I'm not sure how far I bent over. I thought about picking the seat up and tipping it, but it was easier to bend over and flick it.Richard claims the 'agitated' mother of a teen girl spoke to a staff member at the bar before a manager asked him to leave for 'not wearing any underwear and bending over'.
Despite being no stranger to uproar over his public nudity, Richard claims most people have no problem with his choice to be naked. Richard said: "I normally wear a skirt and sweatshirt to go into a pub, and if it's cold I've got the hoodie. But the naturist wants to take it further, and says he will be writing to the Equalities Commission to get naturism formally recognised under a 'philosophical belief'. Richard said: "Many naturists would argue that naturism constitutes a 'philosophical belief' and under the Equalities Act 2010.
