It comes as scores of NI health service staff have taken part in industrial action in recent months over pay and conditions.
Significant disruption to health services is expected later this week due to industrial action by nurses and other Health and Social Care staff in Northern Ireland.
In addition, they were told that there would be no improvement on the average 4.75% pay award that was implemented last year for 2022-23. Unison members in the health service say they are fed up with the current impasse in their just pursuit of pay parity while NHS workers in England and Wales had their pay uplift in April of this year.
The RCM’s director for Northern Ireland, Karen Murray, said: “No midwife wants to strike but what choice do they now have? Meanwhile physiotherapy staff working for the health service in Northern Ireland are preparing to take part in strike action for the first time. The Royal College of Nursing in Northern Ireland has said that it is keeping strike action in the country under review.
