The local authority recently announced that 39 community and leisure facilities will be closing in a bid to cut costs. Now, 24 hours after the decision was announced North Lanarkshire Council have revealed that they have been hit with abuse and have blocked comments on X .Posting a statement on social media, they said:"Our social media house rules set out what we permit on our page.
"We don’t allow abusive comments or comments of a party political nature. Following decisions taken about the review of community facilities, we understand that some people are upset or angry about the decisions taken. "However, while people are entitled to express a view about council decisions, that does not entitle them to post abuse or political comments on our pages. For those reasons, we have temporarily suspended the ability to comment on our posts."that councillors pushed through the controversial proposals that will impact swimming pools, libraries, town halls and neighbourhood hubs as the local authority looks to save £ 64 million over the next three years.
