It’s an end of a NASCAR era in Alabama.
Of the discontinued plates, only Earnhardt Sr. had more than 175 tags on the road, a benchmark exceeded by a single tag. Others had less than 15, including Martin Truex Jr. , Clint Bowyer , and Kyle Petty .
Like other specialty plates, racing tags cost an additional $50. Net proceeds were distributed to the International Motorsports Hall of Fame for operational maintenance of the Motorsports Hall of Fame. Tags for the Alabama Gang and Ford Racing will still be available. The Alabama Gang, a group of NASCAR drivers from the state, has 371 tags sold; Ford Racing has 302.
A tag for the King’s Home, operator of King’s Ranch and Hannah Home, is also be discontinued. King’s Home has 94 tags sold. If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
