Nike is introducing Nike Fit, which allows consumers to scan their feet from their camera phones and recommends the fit. But the promise goes beyond just getting the fit right

Sneaker giant Nike wants to solve the “massive pain” you might experience with poor-fitting shoes, so it’s introducing the Nike Fit feature, which allows you to scan your feet from your camera phone and within seconds recommends the right fit for you.

“We have what we see as a game-changing innovation,” Michael Martin, Nike’s global head of digital products, said in an interview, adding that the footwear industry up till now has relied primarily on the “It’s a significant commercial concern for us,” he said. “We want to free our in-store associates to have more meaningful conversation and interactions with customers. This would boost purchase confidence. It’ll reduce returns online and in stores.

“This is a situation where we saw potential and we accelerated it,” he said. “We can scale very quickly globally. It’s fast and easy to use.”
