Ahead of the release of The Unbearable Weight of MassiveTalent, we spoke to Nicolas Cage about his hesitation over playing himself, whether he revisits his movies and... Paddington 2. (It makes sense when you see the movie, trust us.)
We're going to start with a hard-hitting question… do you agree with fictional Nick Cage aboutI do actually. I hadn't seen the movie until I had done this movie, and then I treated myself to it and I have to agree it's a very poignant, funny and emotional movie. And Hugh Grant is marvellous in it.
The whole time it was a high-wire act. How do I facilitate his vision, the comedy he wanted to bring which was an anxiety-filled, neurotic interpretation of so-called Nick Cage, and still not embarrass my family?Do you ever revisit your former work, or did that make it quite a weird experience for you to go down memory lane, as it were?
I remembered my show with Wogan in England when I went on and I did the flips and the karate kicks and I thought, 'Well that guy was me at the time'. He was irreverent, he was arrogant, he was obnoxious, and I learned, 'Well thank God I'm not like that anymore' [This content is imported from YouTube.
