Hibs have yet to lose under Nick Montgomery but he faces huge tests Rangers and Celtic in his next two fixtures
Nick Montgomery reckons leading a normal life could provide Hibs with an extraordinary week against the Old Firm.
“But the key is keeping the preparation process as normal as possible. The facts are there. We know that, in terms of budget, there is such a big gap between the Old Firm and everybody else. But that’s not any reason to treat these two games any differently. We treat Saturday exactly the same as any other opponent.
Asked how he achieved the impressive results he did with the Mariners, the 41-year-old said: “We just concentrated on ourselves and had a game plan for whoever we played against – no matter who it was. We always respected the opposition but concentrated on ourselves and how we wanted to play. Hibs coach Darren McGregor was a favourite of the Rangers faithful during the 12-month stay he had as the Light Blues’ climbed back up from the lower leagues. But he enjoyed running out in the intimidating Ibrox atmosphere just as much in the green of the Leith side. He said: “It’s an eye opener but it’s what you’re here for. It’s why you’re at Hibs, why you’re in the SPFL, to test yourself at these places.
