The Hibs boss is desperate to reach the Viaplay Cup final and says his old mentor will be watching on.
Twenty years on and Nick Montgomery says Neil Warnock is still seething at a referee’s TACKLE that cost him a first and only appearance in a national cup final.
But while the Easter Road boss ultimately ended up empty handed, he insists the experience is serving him well as a boss as he prepares for what he hopes is the first of many trips to Hampden on Saturday. “We were a Championship team at the time. We got to the play-off final as well that season and lost in all. A lot of ups and ultimately at the end we finished empty handed but I take great experience from those games.
