Kyle Thomas' mum Zena pleaded guilty to keeping a capybara 'with no license'
A video posted on social media by a Lisburn TikToker who said he is building his own zoo is to be investigated by the Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs after it showed wallabies which he said had been bred in the UK.
He said in a video titled “I’m building my very own zoo” that he bought the land “to put my very own animal sanctuary on”. Court records show she pleaded guilty to keeping the capybara from October 6 to 24, by post and received a conditional discharge for two years. We asked the Department if any animal welfare inspectors had visited the under construction ‘zoo’ following issues with the capybara called Queen Elizabeth.Northern Ireland currently has “no legislative welfare licence requirements in place for an animal rescue and rehoming centres/animal sanctuaries” according to the department.
“Under the Welfare of Animals Act 1972, the licensing regime requires the licence holder to comply with conditions in regard to animal health, safety and welfare. We also asked whether Mr Thomas had the proper paperwork in place to import wallabies from the UK, which now feature in his videos.
