NHS Tayside said it expects a small number of procedures to be affected on Wednesday, but it is currently being supported by decontamination facilities within other health boards.
More than 50 operations in Tayside and Fife have had to be postponed following accidental damage to a ceiling at an NHS hospital.
NHS Tayside said 43 elective procedures were cancelled across Monday and Tuesday after a ceiling in its decontamination unit at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee was accidentally damaged. A further 13 surgeries were cancelled by NHS Fife, which is also serviced by the unit. They said:"Although the damage was immediately repaired, production cannot be restarted until safety checks and microbiology testing have been completed, with results not available until five days after testing.The health board said all emergency surgery has been maintained to date. The spokesperson added:"Final microbiology results are expected later this evening and, if certified, we anticipate restarting production immediately and will resume normal working from Thursday."
