New York City released thousands more monkeypox vaccine appointments for first and second doses Friday. It comes as daily average cases have been dropping since the peak of the outbreak in August. GainerTV reports.
Fifty thousand appointments were made available at 4 p.m., which was welcome news for those who have been hopping state lines and struggling to get an appointment. At last check, appointments were still available.
Dr. Christina Zhang, medical director at MiDoctor Urgent Care, where they do monkeypox testing, told CBS2's Alice Gainer they last saw a positive case two weeks ago.Monkeypox in NYC: "The health department is attributing that to two things. One, modification of people's behavior. People have been more careful about the number of sexual partners they've had. And also the distribution of the vaccines," said Councilman Erik Bottcher.
