A new study from Brazil has confirmed a claim many doctors and experts have been making for months now: ivermectin did not help people who contracted COVID-19. “The administration of ivermectin did not result in a lower incidence of medical admission to a hospital or prolonged emergency department observation for COVID-19 among outpatients at high risk for serious illness,” the study authors concluded.
Ivermectin is a medication used to treat parasitic diseases, often in animals. It has been approved for human use for some parasites, and a topical version treats head lice and some skin conditions,. There has been some research into whether it would work as a treatment for COVID, but there was no conclusive evidence that it worked.
