North Korea passes law allowing it to carry out a preventive nuclear strike and declaring its status as a nuclear-armed state 'irreversible'
Leader Kim Jong-un says his country will never abandon nuclear weapons as parliament enacts a law authorising Pyongyang to"automatically" execute preventive nuclear strikes against enemy forces.
North Korea has passed a law officially enshrining its nuclear weapons policies, a move that leader Kim Jong-un said makes its nuclear status "irreversible" and bars any negotiation on denuclearisation. The North's parliament, the Supreme People's Assembly, passed the law that outlines when nuclear weapons can be used, including to protect the country's strategic assets and if it is attacked.
The law also bans any sharing of nuclear arms or technology with other countries, state media KCNA reported.
