New depression therapy shows 'potential', says study
A new type of therapy for treating depression has shown signs of being effective during trials conducted in Devon, researchers say.
For the study, researchers compared the new talk therapy known as Augmented Depression Therapy against the current best practice of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy . "In ADepT, we encourage clients to take a new perspective to their difficulties, aiming to learn to live well alongside depressed mood," he said.
Researchers said participants in the trial, who were mainly recruited from NHS waiting lists in Devon, received either ADepT and CBT therapy and were assessed at regular intervals.
