Barack Obama and Maya Angelou have signed the special remembrance book
HERO: Nelson Mandela is honoured around the world for his contribution to the anti-apartheid struggle
Community activists, MPs as well as charity and business leaders will be in attendance to celebrate the memory of the former South African president and anti-apartheid activist. Admiration for Mandela’s feats in his personal life and politics has already been noted in the special book of remembrance which has already been signed by up to 700 people including former US President Barack Obama, poet Maya Angelou, Beatles superstar Sir Paul McCartney and former Prime Minister David Cameron at the House of Commons.
The special book will be prepared for publication in the spring of 2024 and will be re-published annually with more signatures added. All profits from sales of the book will support children’s causes in the UK and across the world.
