Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says temperatures will climb into the in upper 80s, not far from the 1947 record of 90.

Expect a few afternoon storms to develop by 2 to 4 pm. These storms will produce heavy rainfall and the potential for gusty winds and some small hail. The greatest threat for a strong storm is once again in SE Georgia this afternoon.

A few showers will linger this evening. Scattered showers and a few storms will continue tomorrow before a cold front moves through and dries us out tomorrow afternoon. Temperatures Thursday afternoon will climb to the low 80s. Skies will be sunny on Friday with cooler temperatures and lower humidity. It will be a bit breezy as well as we head into the weekend.

Friday’s high will be a bit below average, at 75. We fall well below average for Saturday and Sunday, only in the low 70s. Buresh says early Sunday could be near-record lows close to 40 early in the morning. The greatest risk for a severe storm is in SE Georgia this afternoon and again tonight. An isolated strong storm is possible south of I-10.
