Hahn, who has worked for Learfield Communications as a radio broadcaster since 1991, referenced the “illegal aliens” in El Paso, Texas, amid the game between the N.C. State Wolfpack and the Terrapins from the University of Maryland.
General Manager Kyle Winchester of Wolfpack Sports Properties wrote:"Learfield has suspended Wolfpack Sports Network play-by-play announcer Gary Hahn from his agreement indefinitely following comments made during today’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl radio broadcast." "I said from the beginning that I would call it when I felt that either our asylum-seekers or community were not safe," El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser said in a statement earlier in December.
The Sun Bowl also canceled its annual fan fest last week due to the city’s convention center being used to house illegal immigrants awaiting processing.
