A centennial to remember, indeed! A final review of NJ Symphony's momentous anniversary season

One hundred years ago, a group of musicians gathered in Montclair to celebrate the end of their first season playing together. The centerpiece of their program that day: Max Bruch’s violin concerto.
This past Sunday at New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, the same organization — now called the— celebrated the end of their 100th season with a gala concert that showed the full scope of how they bring classical music to the Garden State. The centerpiece of the program on Sunday: Max Bruch’s violin concerto, played by Joshua Bell, one of the world’s finest virtuosos.
